Kia ora and welcome to our week 7 newsletter. We have passed the half way mark and are enjoying exploring our learning in more depth. Keep up the amazing work St Pius X.
Staff changes for term 3
I would like to take this opportunity to share some staff changes for Term 3.
Firstly Lisa Hayde has been awarded a study sabbatical for Term 3. What this means is Mrs Hayde will be taking leave from her class to explore Structured Literacy in the Year 4-8 space, as well as some travel for Term 3. Jim Mcabe will be the teacher in Tui over this term. We look forward to Mrs Hayde sharing her adventures with us in Term 4.
Another member of staff taking leave for Term 3 is Rachel Rowe. Rachel is our CRT and release teacher. She is off on an overseas adventure. Her role will be covered for the Term by two relievers. Mrs Pam Kemsley will be working in Ruru B with Mrs Burge and Mr John Turner will be providing class release across the school. Both of these professionals have worked in our school before and are amazing team members and teachers. Mrs Rowe will be back in Term 4.
Finally we have had a large number of New Entrant enrolments over the first half of the year. So beginning Term 3 we will have a new class called Korimako Class with Miss Mia Wiki-Huia Hughes. This will be situated in the spare class next to Mr Fernandes. Miss Mia will be working with the oldest 20 learners from Kiwi class. Miss Bruns and Mrs Vanxay will stay in Kiwi class with the younger learners and new entrants for Terms 3 and 4.
We welcome all these new faces to our School team and wish the best for Mrs Hayde and Ms Rowe as they go on their adventures in term 3.

Playhouse theatre
On Wednesday the Playhouse theatre performed for the whole school. A lovely little story about accepting people as they are. The students loved it and had the opportunity to ask some questions of the actors. Thank you Kiwi class for letting us use your space.

Congratulations to the St Pius X CIS Quiz Teams
Two Thursdays ago we sent five teams to the CIS Year 7 and 8 quiz. Sadly, we were unable to defend our crown from last year. We did manage to come third with an average score of 45.8. A big thank you to Mrs Balme and Mr McLaughlin for helping to transport the children to and from the event. Also a big thank you to Mrs Balme for doing a great job as the event scorer.
