Kia ora and welcome to our week 4 newsletter. This week highlights the joy of autumn with the leaves showing beautiful colours of red, orange and yellow all down the drive. It also brings a range of winter illnesses as the weather changes and we find ourselves more enclosed indoors.
You may be aware of the new guidelines that the Government has put out regarding illness and children in schools post-Covid. We want everyone to be at school and learning so the advice, as always, is if you are sick stay home until you are better.
Stay at home if there is
Kia ora and welcome to our week 4 newsletter.
Stay at home if there is
- a fever
- vomiting or diarrhoea
- sore throat
- school sores or skin infections
- wheezing or difficulty breathing
- A new rash
- Positive Covid 19 test until the recommended quarantine period is over
- Symptoms are getting worse
However the guidelines directly address some issues of when children might still be at school while presenting with some symptoms
Children may be at school if they have
Children may be at school if they have
- Skin problems that are not infectious
- Hay fever or allergy symptoms and you know the child has hay fever or allergies
- Mild respiratory symptoms but overall seems well and able to learn, such as no fever, mild cough or headache, a slight runny nose.
At school we might make a call to you at home if we are concerned about your child presenting with symptoms and we feel they are unwell. In these situations we will ring home, please let us know if you feel the symptoms are explained within the guidelines as you know your child best. Also communicate with your child's teacher if you are aware of symptoms and their causes that might not indicate your child is ill. However we may still ask you to come and collect them if we feel the symptoms have worsened over the course of the day.

Heads up on coming events
The school has a Teacher only day coming up on May 31st. This is a day where the school is closed for learning and no students are onsite. The staff will be exploring some professional development around structured learning and Maths.
Safe speed around schools
Thanks to everyone for keeping our new speed limit in mind and working together to make our carpark and drive a far safer place for our students. Please make sure to keep the painted footpath clear in the carpark to allow everyone to walk safely.
