Principal's Message
Miss Erin Clayton
Tena Koutou Katoa
What a privilege this week has been to experience the liturgies to celebrate Holy Week. The learners have put in a lot of effort and understand the true meaning behind this Lenten and Easter seasons. The classes have worked hard to share this most special story with us and I look forward to the celebration of the Resurrection next Wednesday. For those who were able to come and celebrate with us, thank you. Enjoy the upcoming Easter break with your family, taking the time to celebrate the most Holy time of the Christian year. A reminder that school will be closed on Monday for the public holiday but also for Tuesday the 2nd of April as an Educational holiday. This is an historical break for educational institutes in New Zealand and normally falls within the school term break. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 3rd.
It is with some sadness, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Matua Sharez. Matua is leaving us after today. Matua has a wonderful presence with our learners, taking the time to build strong relationships with his groups. His leadership in Kapa Haka has been most appreciated, I know that the children really look forward to their Monday session and he has left us with the beautiful taonga that is our school song and movements for the haka. I can not express how grateful I am for his guidance during the Pōwhiri to welcome in the new year, learners, staff and myself. It was a perfect start to 2024. We understand and support the unique opportunity to work with his family in Wellington but he will be well and truly missed. Matua in the words of the Irish blessing 'until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.'

BSLA Parent meeting with the Junior Team
Thank you to all the families that could make this meeting. I learnt so much by sitting in on this session and had so many questions for the teachers. If you have a burning question, please contact your child's teacher for clarification.
Cultural Showcase
Friday April 5th we will have the St Pius X Cultural Showcase. This is a chance to share your family talents and culture. We ask that if you are able, you bring some food to share for the evening. The evening turns into a cultural picnic, so please feel free to bring picnic blankets, folding chairs and picnic cutlery and plates for the whole family. I am looking forward to a wonderful evening. See you there.
Enrolment
If you have a younger sibling to enroll at school from 2024-2026 please give their name and birthday to Maree in the office. This ensures we have a place available when your child turns 5. 2024 and early 2025 roll numbers are nearly closed.
Bikes and Scooters on the Drive
It is wonderful to see more people scootering or riding to school. Just a gentle reminder, before and after school, please make sure to walk your bike in the carpark and on the drive. We have a number of people using the same space at the same time and by walking your bike or scooter you help everyone stay safe at this busy time. Thanks.
